Amit Elor Biography: Olympic Gold, Wrestling Career & Achievements

Amit Elor is an American freestyle wrestler who was born in Walnut Creek, California, on January 1, 2004.  At the age of 20, she became the youngest U.S. wrestler, male or female, to win an Olympic gold medal.  She did this by winning the women’s freestyle 68 kg division in the Grand Palais Éphémère during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Elor is the youngest of six siblings and comes from a family that is quite athletic.  She started wrestling at the age of four because her older brother and sister were both wrestlers.  She also did judo, gymnastics, ballet, taekwondo, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and she got a purple belt in the last one.

She is proud of her Israeli background because her parents moved to the United States from Israel in the 1980s.  She trains full-time with the Titan Mercury Wrestling Club, where instructors Valentin Kalika and Terry Steiner work with her. She also takes studies online at Diablo Valley College.
